WE’RE MOVING! 9/7: 1270 Lincoln Ave #800, Pasadena.

Your goals. Your starting point. Your body. Your life outside the studio.
You may want to get stronger. Lose weight. Move better. Build confidence. Return to things you used to do. Or simply feel more capable in your own body.
We start there.

Some people come to Praxis ready to train hard. Some are starting over. Some haven't exercised in years. Some have spent years exercising and are tired of programs that never quite fit.
Your starting point doesn't determine where you can go. It tells us where to begin.

You have a goal and want coaching built around reaching it.

You want to build strength while respecting the boundaries already established by your healthcare team.

Start with an individual assessment of movement, strength, capacity and balance.

Build the skills, equipment and training structure to make your own space useful.
I disagree.
If you're taking the dog for a walk, carrying groceries, hiking with friends, chasing kids around the yard, or simply trying to move through life a little easier, you're an athlete too.
We work together. You learn the movements. You understand what you're doing. You learn how to adjust when something doesn't feel right. Over time, you take on more of your own training.
For one person, independence might mean training alone twice a week and meeting with me once. For someone else, it might mean continuing regular coaching while becoming more confident making decisions during a session.
The point is the same.
You aren't simply completing workouts.
Your assessment looks at movement, strength, physical capacity, balance and other measures relevant to what you want to accomplish.
Not to give you a grade.
It gives us something more useful: a starting point.
As you train, we can return to those measurements and ask a simple question:
Is what we're doing moving you toward your goal?
If it is, we keep building.
If it isn't, we change what we're doing.
As your strength changes, we progress it.
As your movement improves, we expand what you can do.
As you become more comfortable training independently, coaching changes with you.
And when life changes, training can change too.
That's part of the process.
One thing you'll hear me say often is that some days are burpee days and some days are hell-no-bro days.
Life happens. Work gets stressful. Sleep gets interrupted.
The dog decides that 3:00 AM is the perfect time to patrol the house.
Pretending those things don't affect training doesn't make much sense, so before every session we take a quick look at how you're doing and adjust from there.
Some days we progress. Some days we stay the course. Some days we go back to the fundamentals.
The goal is progress without unnecessary setbacks.
You decide what you want to accomplish.
My job is to help connect what you're doing today with where you've said you want to go.
Sometimes that means adding something.
Sometimes it means modifying something.
Sometimes the most useful question is simply:
How does this help you reach your goal?
That question applies to training, food, recovery and the choices you make outside the studio.
You don't need perfection.
You need to understand what you're doing and what it's accomplishing.
The same thing applies to nutrition. I'm not a food enforcer.
If you like Southwestern, Indian, Thai, pizza, cheesecake, or the occasional beer, let's talk about it, and make it fit. Life happens around food.
My job isn't to take away everything you enjoy.
My job is to help you understand how your body uses energy and help you make choices that support the life you want to live.
Tell us where you are and what you're trying to accomplish.
We'll start there.
